What is Western Riding?  American cowboys were required to work long hours in the saddle, and their riding style and equipment needed to accommodate the need to rope and guide herds of cattle while often riding at high speeds over rough terrain.

Western Riding in essence is a way to ride a horse with control, precision, and responsiveness by means of light pressure and weight transfer of the rein on the horse's neck.
